Dr Amal Al Hashmi holds Basic Science Bachelor and MD degree from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU)Oman. She has Completed Residency Training program in Neurology at McGill University Montreal Canada. She holds the Canadian Board in Neurology. She is the first Omani Women as an Adult Neurologist.
In April 2016 she was appointed by His majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said the Sultan of Oman (Royal Decree number “24/2016”) as Human Rights Commissioner of Oman Human Rights Commission she severed as commissioner for 3 years form April 2016 –April 2019.
Dr Al Hashmi works as Sr Consultant Neurologist and head of the central stroke program at Khoula hospital Muscat and Person in Charge of stroke care development in Oman. She was the founder of the first Stroke Unit in Oman and with the support of Ministry of Health of Oman Dr Al Hashmi managed to create a total of four stroke units in Oman . She is also the founder and the President of Oman Stroke Society. https://www.omanstrokwsociety.com .
She established the local Stroke Nursing Training Module and run numerous training courses for doctors and nurses. Dr Al Hashmi was awarded Dedication award By H E Sural Council member in October 2016 .

She also received the best staff award for the year 2019 at Khoula hospital /Ministry of health of Oman. Dr Al Hashmi also received the award as Women leader in Health Care May/3rd /2019
Dr Al Hashmi is a Committee member at the MENA SINO Association ( Regional association including MENA countries + India ,Turkey , Pakistan & Thailand, Singapore.
Was recently appointed as a member of the World Federations of Neurology
Teaching Course Committee for two years 2018 , 2019
Dr Al Hashmi is trainer and an examiner at the Oman Medical Specialty Board(OMSB) & Final MD examiner at SQU . She held the
neurology rotation supervisor position from January 2014- September 2017. She is also an associate editor at the international journal of psychology and Neuroscience IJPN
She has also represented Ministry of health of Oman in several International official Delegations in the field of Stroke. Was the organizer and the chairperson of several regional and international conferences. She was also a speaker at several national regional and international conferences.
